HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

image64

In day to day life, in the workplace, in the community or at home, you may be confronted by a life-threatening emergency such as someone experiencing Cardiac Arrest. Quick decision making and knowledge on what to do could save someone’s life.

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to recognise when someone is unconscious and not breathing normally (Cardiac Arrest) and increase their chance of survival by calling an ambulance and performing potentially lifesaving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including using a defibrillator, until emergency services arrive to take over.

The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.

image65

Course Includes

  • Legal issues
  • Infection control
  • DRSABCD action plan
  • Managing the unconscious breathing casualty
  • Resuscitation (CPR) on an adult and child manikin
  • AED terminology
  • Safety when using an AED
  • Preparation of a casualty prior to using an AED

* CPR adult assessment must be completed on the floor

Statement of Attainment

 HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

The Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines recommend

that CPR skills are recertified every 12 months.

HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

image66

This first aid course will allow you to develop skills and knowledge and most importantly, confidence to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies while awaiting an ambulance.

Providing effective, lifesaving first aid interventions requires instruction and practical training.  This is especially true where it relates to potentially fatal illnesses and injuries, such as those that require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or involve severe bleeding. These procedures carry a risk of further injury to the casualty and the first aider.  As with any training, it is more useful if training occurs before being confronted with an actual real-life situation.

You will develop the skills to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery.  It includes initial intervention techniques such as performing CPR, as well as the first aid treatment of other conditions, such as administering an autoinjector, or asthma medication, or assisting someone choking.

The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.

This first aid course is essential for everyday life events, allowing you to provide immediate and effective basic emergency life support to workers or others who have been injured or become ill at the workplace or at home.

image67

Course Includes

  • Chain of survival
  • Assessing the situation
  • Basic life support - DRSABCD
  • Infection control
  • Performing CPR
  • Appropriate use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Care of the unconscious person
  • Allergic reaction
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding control
  • Choking and airway obstruction
  • Respiratory distress, including Asthma
  • Shock
  • Stroke

* CPR adult assessment must be completed on the floor

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

image68

This first aid course will allow you to develop skills and knowledge and most importantly, confidence, to provide first aid treatment to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury.  You will develop the skills to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery.  It includes initial intervention in a casualty with a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, such as performing CPR while awaiting an ambulance, as well as the complete treatment of other less serious conditions, such as applying water for burns, or assisting someone choking.
